Mixed-reality tools for agricultural data, developed in collaboration with the Ontario government.
Mixed Reality Farm Tech
A new tool that helps farmers see and use their farm data in 3D. It lets them better understand their soil, crops, and how farming affects the environment.

What This Project Does
We're building a tool that changes how farmers work with their farm data. It pulls together different types of field info and shows it in an easy-to-understand way. This helps farmers learn more about their soil, crops, and environmental impact.
Using AI, virtual reality, and smart sensors, our tool makes it simpler for farmers to make good decisions. The big goal is to help farmers grow better crops while being kinder to the environment.
We want to do three main things:
- Create a 3D system that shows farm and environmental data in a clear way
- Help farmers better understand their soil and how their farming affects the environment
- Find new ways to use farm data to teach and inform people
How We Built It
We created three different ways to use our tool:
- A home version for planning farm work from your living room
- A field version for using while walking around your farm
- A tractor version that shows info while you're driving farm equipment
All these versions let you see maps, write notes, look at different types of data, and ask questions to an AI helper.

We tried lots of different approaches to make maps, data displays, note-taking, and AI chat work well together in a 3D space.
The AI Farm Helper
Our system includes a voice AI helper that farmers can talk to. It gives practical advice about farming that's good for both crops and the environment.
The main parts include:
- Voice Chat — You can talk to it naturally and it responds with different voice options
- Farm Tools — It can check soil health, weather, and suggest cover crops
- Smart Advice — It knows about farming in Canada and gives practical tips

Testing It Out
We built this step by step, starting with basic ideas and making them better. We combined 3D visuals with an AI chat system using web tools and React components.
Farming experts who tried it liked how it showed maps and data in new ways. They thought it could really help both new and experienced farmers make better decisions about their farms.
What's Next
This project shows promise for helping farms run better and teaching about good farming practices. Government groups could even use it to encourage and reward earth-friendly farming.
Our next steps include:
- Testing with real farmers in real fields
- Making text easier to read in the headset
- Adding ways to select specific parts of fields
- Improving the AI helper's farming advice
- Making better 3D models of land features
We're working toward a friendly, useful tool that helps farmers make good choices, learn new techniques, and farm in ways that are better for the planet.
